Blike/Cravero International Pediatric Sedation Advocacy Award
Vivian Yuen, MD
Dr. Yuen is an anesthesiologist at the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, and an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Hong Kong. She has been advancing the field of pediatric sedation for the last several years with her innovative research investigations into different sedation medication options, particularly with the use of intranasal and buccal dexmedetomidine for noninvasive procedures. See her published works on PubMed.
She also is a strong advocate for in-situ simulation for training in crisis management and team work. Her dedication to evidence-based practice and advancing safe sedation aligns with the SPS goals and mission.

Kristine K. Murray Child Life Award and Scholarship
Katelyn Beyer, CCLS
Katelyn was selected for this award because of her commitment of care across a range of locations within a four-hospital system, including pediatric/adolescent inpatient unit, operating rooms, emergency department, radiology department, neurology clinic, cardiac imaging, and neonatal intensive care unit. Katelyn introduced virtual reality headsets to their pediatric practice to distract the patient and decrease anxiety.

Joseph P. Cravero, MD Leadership Award
Lowell Clark, MD
Dr. Lowell’s accomplishments over a four-decade career reveal a tremendous impact in his community. He was instrumental in founding not only the first pediatric intensive care unit in southern Georgia, but also a sedation/infusion service, a child advocacy center, and a transport team, all in an area where none of these services existed.
He’s contributed greatly to SPS over the years, in the form of long informative listserv posts chock-full of sage advice and thought-provoking questions, as well as several inspiring lectures at our conferences. Those of us fortunate to interact with him in person know him as a warm, unassuming, kind human being, well deserving of this recognition.

SPS Scholarly Grant
Lauren R. Edwards, MD
Dr. Edwards is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Section of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences/Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She was selected for this year’s Scholarly Grant for her project submission, “Sedation for Congenital Lacrimal Duct Obstruction Stenting—Safety and Cost Analysis”.
